There have been rumours all week that the first Aquaman trailer is on the way and it appears as if it’s almost certainly on the horizon thanks to the reveal of a brand new set of EW covers. You can check those out below but the magazine reveals that we should expect to see Atlanteans riding great white sharks, giant octopi, seven different underwater kingdoms, The Trench, and even some sea dragons!”The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film,” director James Wan reveals. “This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action.” It’s clearly going to be something special then and these covers are a very good start. We now even have a first look at Queen Atlanna!Do these have you any more excited for Aquaman? Share your thoughts on that in the usual place.

She’s also sporting a new hairdo! These reveals seem to be coming fairly regularly on the heels of the commencement of production announcement, so perhaps a first look at Kristin Wiig as Cheetah is just around the corner? For the first time in its history, Marvel Studios has enlisted a female composer to score one of their blockbuster films as Pinar Toprak has revealed, via Instagram, that she will score next year’s Captain Marvel, which will be the twenty-first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.Toprak’s past work includes Syfy’s hit Superman prequel series, Krypton, and the popular video game Fortnite. She also contributed additional music for Zack Snyder’s Justice League last year.Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are helming the upcoming movie, which will be the first female-led Marvel film since 2005’s Elektra, which is, of course, not apart of the MCU. Academy Award-winner Brie Larson is headlining with a supporting cast that features Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, and Clark Gregg.
Before he was cast as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan audition for the titular role in Captain America: The First Avenger. That obviously ended up going to Chris Evans in what proved to be a piece of pitch-perfect casting by Marvel Studios. Stan hasn’t done too badly playing The Winter Soldier as he’s appeared in almost as many MCU movies as Evans over the past few years! However, you have to believe that the actor has at least some regrets about missing out on starring as the Star Spangled Avenger, right? Apparently not! During a recent interview, Stan admitted that Marvel’s decision “worked out” and that Bucky was actually a “much better role” for him in the end.Stan went on to talk about now playing a “rehabilitated assassin” and confirmed that The Winter Soldier “now goes by White Wolf.” With rumours pointing to Evans choosing to walk away from the role of Captain America following the release of Avengers 4 next year, there’s a very good chance that the actor will actually be given the opportunity to suit up if the movies end up following the comics.
Though numerous set photos have leaked, fans anticipating the upcoming live-action Shazam! film are still awaiting a full-reveal of the costume. The best look has come from a poster at the Las Vegas Licensing Show, that first showed up thanks to Zachary Levi’s Instagram feed.Right off the bat, the poster conveys the tone the film is going for- playing up the humorous concept of a teenage child suddenly becoming as powerful as Superman. Appearing on the Film Riot Podcast, Sandberg revealed a lot of attention went into the costume, “Yeah, there were a few iterations. And you sort of have to keep changing stuff even after we started shooting because you realize things… You shoot the first scene and Zach [Levi] is like, ‘You know, I can’t move my hands properly with these gauntlets.’So we had to redesign that, or like the boots kept falling apart so it’s like, ‘Oh well, I guess we have to do something different there.’ It was sort of a constant process of updating and making it work better.”Sandberg went on to add that the lightning bolt on the Shazam! costume will indeed light up and crackle with electricity so there were a lot of camera and lighting tests that had to be completed to get the right look.
The Gifted has added its first season 2 series regular in the form of Empire’s Grace Byers, and her character should be very familiar to long-time X-Men comic fans.Byers will play Reeva Payge, also known as the Hellfire Club’s Black Queen. This small-screen take on the villain is described as:“a smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people. She leads an elite band of followers and has a soft spot for her new recruits, but is still capable of extreme violence in defence of her vision.”
According to Variety, Warner Bros. is giving Jared Leto’s divisive incarnation of the Joker a movie of his own.Leto, who debuted as the Clown Prince of Crime in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad in 2016, is reportedly set to star and exec produce an untitled standalone film which will “pave the way for future movies branching from Suicide Squad.”We already know that one of those projects will be the Harley Quinn-centric Gotham City Sirens flick with Margot Robbie reprising her SS role, but it sounds like there may well be more in the pipeline – plus, there’s the non DCEU-set Joker origin movie that Martin Scorsese is producing which may or may not star Joaquin Phoenix in the lead.Leto’s Joker did not go down particularly well with many fans and critics, but some do agree that, given better material, he could definitely make the character his own. Still, this news is bound to get a lot of backlash!
We were told the first trailer for Bumblebee would be online at some point today, and here is is – a lot earlier in the morning than we expected! There definitely seems to be a very different tone to Michael Bay’s Transformers movies here. While here is some action in the teaser, the focus seems to be firmly on the friendship between the little yellow Autobot and the teenager (Hailee Steinfeld) who discovers him in a scrapyard.Fans of the early animated series should appreciate Bumblebee’s smoother, more compact design, and it looks like we’re also going to get some Decepticon trouble in the form of Megatron’s right-hand ‘bot, Starscream.
Avengers Assemble! The first promo art for Avengers 4 is here and, well, it leaves us with plenty to talk about. Before we go any further, it is, of course, important to point out that this could be fan-made. However, looking at the composition of the picture, the fact the art style matches what we’ve come to expect from the studio, and other small details, I’m inclined to believe this actually is 100% legitimate. As you can see, almost all the surviving heroes have new costumes and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is also getting in on the action, something we’ve known would be the case for quite some time now. This is just a generic piece of artwork for promotional purposes so it doesn’t necessarily reveal too much in the way of plot details but that new shot of Thanos might. As you can see, he’s wearing a new suit of armour and wielding a sword that was spotted in a number of toys earlier this year. Who knows if that’s connected to those or if it is indeed how the Mad Titan will end up looking in Avengers 4.
Linda Hamilton has been shooting Tim Miller’s Terminator reboot (requel?) for the past couple of weeks, and a fan has taken a selfie with the actress near the Madrid set of the film.As you can see, Hamilton is sporting blond hair and the accompanying report indicates that she has definitely been working on her upper body in preparation for her return to the role of Sarah Connor.Hamilton hasn’t been involved with the iconic sci-fi franchise since James Cameron’s T2: Judgement Day, but her character has since been played by both Lena Headey on the small screen and Emilia Clarke in the ill-fated Terminator: Genisys.
