Patty Jenkins is scheduled to begin shooting Wonder Woman 2 this May in London, and some casting/character rumors have now begun to filter through. That Hashtag Show reports that the main antagonist for the sequel will indeed be Cheetah, as many fans speculated that it would be. According to them, the film will introduce the Barbara Ann Minerva incarnation of the ferocious villain. The second part of the report originally indicated that Warner Bros. wanted none other than Emma Stone to play the role, but they’ve since updated the article with the news that the Amazing Spider-Man actress has passed. Still, if this is on the level it certainly indicates that the studio is after a big name to play Cheetah.

Musical Mondays – Eggsy is Back – Kingsman: The Golden Circle soundtrack…

OK, I am trying to get back into a schedule of regular posting content, and Monday’s seemed like a good day for some music. Let’s kick things off with Henry Jackman’s opening to Kingsman: The Golden Circle: “Eggsy is Back”.

I think I was looking forward more to the music of this film than the film itself. And a piece like this is why…Bagpipes, to the tune of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Road” (I didnt realize this on first listening, it hit me later in the album) followed by that fantastic Kingsman Theme. And then the action kicks in…this is just fun stuff!

Mark Hamill Wants A Role In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 And James Gunn Is Interested

Mark Hamill is a sci-fi icon but could his next destination be the Marvel Cinematic Universe rather than a Galaxy Far, Far Away? Yesterday evening, a fan reached out to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn to ask him to include the Star Wars: The Last Jedi actor in the upcoming threequel to which the filmmaker said he would be open to meeting with the actor to discuss some sort of role.

Hamill spotted that conversation and quickly replied saying that he, “would be happy to do so, both as a good neighbor & an unemployed actor.” Things proceeded to get more interesting from there, though, as the two started talking about discussing things further on Twitter via Direct Message!

DM me for my contact info if you’re serious.
(& a good neighbor)
xoxo, mh

Just followed you. Is that how DM’s work?

— Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) February 26, 2018

So, there you have it! There’s nothing to say anything will come of this but Gunn could easily find a cameo or voice role for Hamill (a lead part would arguably be even better). We’ll have to wait and see how things pan out as it will probably be a while before we start hearing anything definite about casting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but nabbing Hamill would be a huge win for the MCU.

Please Mr. Gunn…make this happen!!!

Star Trek Sundays – U.S.S. Enterprise refit from Star Trek Beyond…

I am not sure how i missed this the first, second, or third time i watched the film. Changes were made to the design of the Kelvin-Timeline Enterprise for the 1st act of Star Trek Beyond.

You can see what they were trying to do, make her a little more like the refit from the Motion Picture of the Prime Timeline…i think they also said something about making the neck and pylons look weaker to fit the needs of the story…I like the original design better, but thats just me…

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX Director J.J. Abrams Says The Script Is Complete; Confirms Late July Shoot Date

When J.J. Abrams replaced Colin Trevorrow as the director of the still untitled Star Wars: Episode IX, we all knew he was going to be under a lot of pressure to map out the story and deliver a new draft of the script – and deliver he has.

Abrams was quizzed about the final instalment of the new Star Wars trilogy when he appeared as a guest on The Late Show, and while he obviously wasn’t about to give any plot details away, he did reveal that the script is finished while also confirming that production is set to commence this July.

“We have a script, which is a big deal for me. It starts shooting end of July. Having a script in advance is something I haven’t always been lucky enough to have. I’m writing this with Chris Terrio, who is a genius, and I’m having a great time.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Abrams and Terrio approach this after the bold decisions Rian Johnson made with The Last Jedi. Will we see some retconning of the more “controversial” story elements, perhaps?

AQUAMAN Described As An “Emotional Action Movie” With Similar Tone To WONDER WOMAN Following Test Screening

More details on yesterday’s Aquaman test screening have merged, with James Wan’s solo outing for the King of Atlantis drawing comparisons to Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. Some mild SPOILERS may follow…

We already reported on some vague initial reactions to the Aquaman test screening that was held yesterday at Warner Bros., but now thanks to Batman News we have a much better idea of what to expect from The King of Atlantis’ first solo adventure.

Aquaman is described as an “emotional action movie” with a similar tone to Wonder Woman. Apparently, it’s a drama first and foremost but there is also lot of humor – and, this being a James Wan film, some horror elements as well.

Several different reports have also mentioned a Star Wars-like vibe, particularly in relation to to the battle sequences.

Here are some more details, some of which might be considered mild SPOILERS:

There’s an amazing villain in Orm, played by Patrick Wilson

Amber Heard’s Mera is very much a co-lead and not just a love interest

Characters just talk normally underwater.

No giant air bubbles like we saw in Justice League.

The rumors were true, Jason Momoa wears the comic book Aquaman costume in the movie.

Black Manta is a secondary villain. He looks just like he does in the comics and has the same origin as well.

Superhero News scoop confirmed, The Trench is in the movie.

Yes, Aquaman can talk to fish, and he does in the movie.

It’s always best to take these type of reactions with a grain of salt (we have heard similarly glowing reports for movies that didn’t turn out so great, after all), but let’s hope all of this is on the level and Wan knocks it out of the aquarium.

There Are Reportedly Two Competing JAMES BOND 25 Screenplays In The Works

It was revealed earlier this week that Danny Boyle (28 Days Later) is currently the frontrunner to take the helm of James Bond 25 for MGM, something Deadline has now confirmed is the case. The filmmaker worked with Daniel Craig for a sketch featuring his take on 007 (and The Queen) for the London Olympics in 2012 and he has a very specific idea for where he hopes to take things next.

According to the trade, he and Trainspotting writing partner John Hodge are working on a script which will be the version he ultimately makes if MGM approves. However, while longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson liked Boyle’s pitch, it’s a couple of months away from being finished and it definitely sounds like a departure from what we’re used to seeing this franchise deliver.

However, as of right now, MGM has a completed script by Casino Royale, Skyfall, and Spectre scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, a version which Boyle would not direct. However, Yann Demange (’71),  Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049), and David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water) remain on the shortlist for that one. Who will end up behind the camera and while Bond will we get? Time will tell…

Take A First Look At Brainiac’s Skull-Shaped Ship In This New KRYPTON Featurette

There hasn’t been a huge amount of positivity surrounding Syfy’s Krypton but that changed yesterday with the debut of a first look at the show’s take on Brainiac. Now, a new behind the scenes look at the show has been released and as well as shedding a little more light on Blake Ritson’s take on the iconic Superman villain, we get to see concept art (around 0:33) depicting his massive skull-shaped ship.

That’s been part of Brainiac’s arsenal since the early 1980s when the character was reintroduced as a robot. However, Krypton appears to be taking the vast majority of its inspiration from Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s Action Comics run from 2008 which saw them bring back the one true Brainiac as an organic villain. The question is, will the show end up meeting the expectations of comic book fans?
